Sub: Exemption from library fine

Respected Madam:

I wish to state that I could not return the library book in time. The reason behind the delay is I could not attend the school for a week due to my father’s illness. The financial condition of my family has weakened because of my father’s illness.  Kindly exempt me the fine. I shall be grateful. Thanking you.

Yours faithfully,

Subject: Remittance of library fine

Respected Madam,

I, XYZ, a student of X-C had borrowed 3 books from the literary section of the school library on the 15 February 2018. However, I could not return them back in the stipulated time of 15 days after borrowing. I have now been delayed by another 15 days and the late return fee has been piling up. I could not return the books as we had shifted our house suddenly and most of the things were misplaced. It has taken me quite some time to look for it and bring it back. However, I am glad that the books are in a good condition and no damage has occurred to any of the books. Please consider my situation as a genuine reason and remit my library fine.

Kindly consider my request as an apology too.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

XYZ
(Class X-C)
