Our Celebrations on Independence day
It's an honor to write the report in our school magazine. We have recently celebrated with a lot of fervour and sincerity.
Very early in the morning all students reached the school by 8:00 am. Then they assembled on the ground. Elaborate arrangements had been made already for the celebration. The stage was already made, and had been decorated for a meeting and presentation. The school entrance was clean and was shining bright with our colourful national flag flying high.
As the chief guest arrived, all students stood up. The school director and principal greeted him and invited him onto the stage. The speeches by the school director and principal informed the progress of the school and its commitment to build a strong nation. The school promised to prepare students to be good citizens of the future. Then the chief guest inspired all by narrating some independence struggles. The great histories of great freedom fighters inspired everyone to be patriotic and bring fame and prosperity to the nation.
Then some cultural programs including songs and dances took place. They all depicted our culture and delighted everyone present there. Then prizes were given away by the chief guest to the winners of painting, essay, elocution, debate, poems and songs competitions held in the previous week.
At the end of the speeches all students swore to do good to the country. Then the school student captain thanked all the speakers. Everyone was happy with smiles on faces. Independence day brings happiness in the hearts every year. I feel very good. I guess you too feel the same.
After the celebrations in the morning, we had a sumptuous lunch at the school. The lunch was given by our school. After lunch we went to two colonies nearby. We did cleaning of the garbage there. We disposed it off with the help of the municipal vehicles. Then we went to meet many poor families directly in their houses. We observed their houses. We gave them health tips. We told them the lessons of hygiene that we were taught at school.
Later we assembled them at one place in a community hall nearby. We told them to use their voting right properly without falling for any gifts. We told them to get educated so that they could read and write well. Some of us assisted the medical staff who checked their health. We explained them the precautions told by the doctors and explained the use of medicines prescribed.
Later in the evening we came back home; Tired but happy the day long celebrations combined with social service.
