For fertilization to occur, sperm cells must be released in the vagina during the period that the egg cell is alive. The sperm cells move through the uterus into the fallopian tube, where one sperm cell may fertilize the egg cell. The fertilized  cell is a zygote.
Embryogenesis is the process by which the embryo forms and develops. In mammals, the term refers chiefly to early stages of prenatal development, whereas the terms fetus and fetal development describe later stages. Embryogenesis starts with the fertilization of the egg cell (ovum) by a sperm cell, (spermatozoon).

Is it with a human being then it would be_______
First the ovary of the female produce egg or ovum which moves through the fallopian tube or oviduct to the uterus. Then comes the sperm of the male. When the male and female meets the numerous sperm of the male moves through the vagina to the uterus. Then the one of male sperms fertilizes with ovum and finally an embryo develops.

Sinjini28: oh then u can add there before the fertilization that the ovarian follicle rupture and an ovum is released. The corpus luteum secrets progesterone to maintain pregnancy. Then u can add after fertilization of 9 months or 280 days approximately the baby is born. Inside the ovum the baby is nurtured by the placenta and umbilical cord. Hence after birth this umbilical cord is cut.
