Apartheid was an social system in South Africa while it was under minority rule. This was used in the 20th century,from 1948 to the early 1990's. The word apartheid means apartness in Afrikaans.

According to the law, these races were not allowed to mingle with each other, to live near each other or even to use common facilities.
