A homopolymer is defined as a polymer which is obtained by linking together only similar types of molecules (or monomers), whereas a copolymer is obtained by linking two or more different types of monomers in the same chain. ... Example- Nylon 66 is a copolymer of hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid.

{\tt{\purple{Copolymerisation:-}}}

Copolymerisation is a polymerisation reaction in which a mixture of more than one monomeric species which allowed to polymerise and form a copolymer.

The copolymer can be made not only by chain growth polymerisation but by step growth polymerisation also.__________________________________

Example:

A mixture of 1,3 butadiene and styrene can form a copolymer.__________________________________

Note:-

  1. It is used for manufacture of footwear components,autotyres, cable insulation etc.
  2. Copolymers have properties quite different from homeopolymers.
