Answer:

Hertz experiment consists of two metallic plates of equal size, placed 60 cm apart, held parallel to each other. Two small spheres S1 and S2 are placed closed to each other and connected to the plates A and B by thick metalic rods respectively. Using an induction coil the spheres are charged to high value.

→ Hertz's experiment was based on the principle that a vibrating electric charge radiates electromagnetic waves. The experimental arrangement is shown in the figure provided with the answer ( Check the attachment given with this answer ) .

→ There are two large metallic plates A and B connected to an induction coil. Two metallic spheres I and I' are connected to metallic plates. These spheres are separated by a small air gap. There is production of spark between the spheres. This spark gives rise to oscillations which ends out electromagnetic waves.
