All living organisms on this earth depend on sunlight for energy. The plants use the energy of sunlight through the photosynthesis and this process on the earth is known as the basis of life. Only in the green parts of the leaves photosynthesis occurred in presence of light. The pigments present in the leaves are substances that have the ability to absorb sunlight at specific wavelengths. Light reactions include absorption of light, splitting of water, oxygen release, and the formation of high-energy chemical intermediates i.e. ATP and NADPH.
