Robespierre period was known as the reign of terror (1793 – 1794) because he followed the policy of serve, punish, control. But later on, he was guillton. Its purpose was to purge France of enemies of the Revolution and protect the country from foreign invaders. The first reason the Reign of Terror was justified was the threats made by Robespierre. A second reason the reign of terror was justified was the methods that Robespierre used to control the people against the revolution. They had to stop the people against the revolution.

hope it helps
