This is a conversation between a boy named Rohit and his parents.
( Rohit's results weren't so good that year whereas his cousin performed better than him, being in the same class. Rohit was already depressed, when his parents started comparing his marks which further irritated him and a fierce argument started between them )
Mom - Rohit, where were you so late at night?
Dad - Aren't you aware of your results? See your cousin and learn something from him.
Rohit - Dad, you know I was ill and was barely able to study yet I was able to gain 86%.
Dad - Don't give me excuses. If you have time to waste with your friends, rather use it for studying.
Rohit - But, dad...
Mom - No buts. Go to your room and from today you're not allowed to stay out after 6:00 pm. Learn something from Rohan (cousin), he studies till late every day and gets such good marks.
Rohit( couldn't control himself anymore) - Mom, why do you always say Rohan this, Rohan that?
It's really irritating. He's just a bit good at studies, so what? I'm just as good too.
Dad - Don't you dare talk back to your mother!
Is this what you learned from your friends?
Rohit - No dad, that's not what I meant. I-....
Dad (angrily)- Enough! I don't want to hear anything. From tomorrow, you're not allowed to go out to play for a whole month. Repent on your behaviour and study a bit.
Rohit - But dad, at least hear what I have to say.
Mom - Don't say anything Rohit, I'm so disappointed in you. I can't believe my son could behave like this one day. Your father is right, it's because of those high-flying so-called friends of yours.
Rohit (shouts) - Please listen to me!
( Both his parents became surprised. He explains why he was angry so much.)
Rohit - Why do you always keep on comparing me with Rohan?? I don't like that. He is good at something while I'm good at something else. It's not like all humans can be good at
everything. My results may be bad this year, but I'll improve myself. But, please stop telling me to become like Rohan. I'm different, I'll do something different. So please believe in me and please stop telling me to become like him.
Dad - Ok, but I want good results next time. I'll not accept any excuses.
Mom - Fine, but don't behave like that next time.
Rohit - Ok mom, I'm sorry.
That's it... Hope it helps...
If you want, I can make the argument even more fierce, and I can make it a bit big or small too...
So if you want any changes, please inform me...
