Short circuit:

The circuit becomes shorter in this. The two wires neutral and phase touches each other the circuit gets shorter. The resistance becomes low and a heavy current flows through it.

Overloading:

If the current flowing through the various instruments connected to a single supply, it draws more current. If the current drawn is more than the maximum current rating it gets overloaded.

1. Overloading : It occurs when too many appliances of high power are switched on at the same time . It also occurs when too many appliances are connected to a single socket and they draw large current from the socket .

2. Short circuiting : When the insulation of the live wire and neutral wire gets torn and they touches each other , this is known as short circuiting .
