Explanation:
Heart beat: Heart is the rythmic expansion and contraction of the cardiac muscles which allows the heart to recieve and pump out blood.Heart of an adult human beats approximately 72 times per minute. A heartbeat involves contraction of atria followed by contraction of ventricles. Then all the chambers relax before the next heartbeat begins.Being myogenic, the human heart do not need any external stimulation and heart beat is due to the intrinsic conduction system of the heart.thought the heart has an intrinsic control system , it can be controlled by neural signals as well as hormones. The cycle of events that take place during a heart beat is called cardiac cycle which refers to the simultaneous contraction(systole) and relaxtion(diastole) of the heart. during a cardiac cycle heart produces four sounds but only two r loud enough to be heart with the help of a stethoscope. The first low pitched sound is the lub and the next high pitched sound is dup which are commonly considered as the begining and end of heart beat.
Pulse:
When blood flows into the arteries from the heart applies pressure on the arterial wall which generates a wave like movement on the arterial wall. This wave like movement can be felt by placing a finger tip on the artery that runs near the skin specially on the wrist and is known as pulse. Counting a pulse gives an idea about the heart rate of a person.
HEART BEAT AND PULSE:
- Heartbeat is defined as the beats of the heart that is produced during the pumping of blood by the heart. It is often medically important to detect any abnormalities of the heart. It leads to the production of the typical heart sounds.
- Pulse is defined as the periodic vibration of the arteries that is produced by the pushing of the blood by heart through it. Pulse is measured in wrists, neck, knee, ankle, etc. It serves as an important prognostic measure in medical science.
