TISCO is expanded as Tata Iron and steel company. Was established by Sir Dorabji Tata in 1907.It was established near a Jungle called Sakchi, near confluence of the the subarnareka and the khorkai rivers. He was knighted in 1910 for his contributions.
1912 TISCO began producing steel, during WW-2 began a great demand for steel in the British empire so the railways turned towards TISCO for supply of steel for rails. As the war stretched for many years, demand for steel was fulfilled by TISCO.As many years to come TISCO remained as the biggest steel industry within the British raj.In 1919,Lord Clemsford renamed Sakchi as Jamshedpur after Mr Jamsetji Tata.
