For me optimism is hope, confidence, andhappiness. It is a feeling, yet at the same time an action that you cannot explain. It is sometimes what gets you up in the morning. I think optimism is showing and being happy , when in fact you are miserable. It is waking up in the morning and looking at the stuff you do have instead of what you don't.
Optimism is the ability to see the brighter side of things. For example if you were trapped on a deserted island you would be saying they will find us and we are going to be okay. Or you might say we have enough food to last.We can survive through this. In addition it is being the one who has faith.
Speaking of faith you need a lot of this to have optimistic. Like my mom would always say optimism is the light that luminates your path. I mean when you are optimistic you see the world with color and not in black and white. You  can't help ,but have a personality and life full with excitement and confidence. It is like looking at a glass half full instead of half empty.

Answer:

Optimism is hopefulness for the future, and, like me, most people get their optimism from their roots, or how they were brought up as a child. My parents would always remind me from a young age that being pessimistic will not help you achieve your goal, so you might as well be optimistic and try.
