Once in Vijaynagar there lived a very famous pandit called Tenali Rama. One day he went out of town to some other place for the work. After finishing the work he came at night. While coming inside the house, he heard some whispering sound of 3 persons. He listened to them very carefully. They were saying to each other that 'Today is the day when we are going to theft Tenali Rama's house. We will take away all the jewels and money he has.' As he heard it he was shocked. He went inside and told his wife about this.

He had plan in his mind. He said to his wife in a high tone that, 'Sharda, put all the jewels and money in this chest. We will put it in the well. As the thieves will come they will not find anything in our house.' Hearing this the thieves were happy. Tenali Rama put the heavy stones in the chest and put the chest in the well. As they both went inside the home and slept, the thieves came outside and looked into the well. They were not able to see anything as there was darkness. So they decided to remove all the water and went inside and took the chest out. When they opened and saw inside were big big stones and pebbles. They heard some noise and thought that they were caught and they ran away. Tenali Rama came outside and thanked the thieves in mind said that My plants are watered.


Moral => We should not theft as one day our theft will be caught.
