GST stands for Goods and Services Tax. It is basically a move by the current BJP government in order to curb tax evasion by the members of the elite society and also to divide goods on basis of their requirements so that everybody has to pay a reasonable amount to the government as tax. It consists of slabs such as 5%, 10%,12%, 18% and 28%. The highest tax is about 35% levied on sin products such as as Tobacco and alcohol. The lowest is for daily requirements like salt and sugar thus creating a general balance in the society.
