On a Saturday evening, I and four of my friends decided to go for a walk by the canal. We also took our swimming costumes with us. It was a lovely evening. A cool breeze was blowing. The water of the canal was cool. We were tempted to swim in the canal. We dived into the canal and enjoyed swimming. We splashed water on each other, and dived into the deep water. Suddenly, we heard someone shouting for help. Turing around, I saw a boy, who had fallen into the canal and did not know how to swim. He was struggling to save himself. His friends were shouting for help. Apparently, they did not know swimming. Immediately, I rushed towards the boy. I asked him to hold me tightly. With great difficulty, I swam to the bank and pushed him out of the water. My friends also joined me. He was unconscious, as he had taken in a lot of water. We gave him first aid and then rushed him to the hospital. The doctor took out water from his stomach and administered him some medicines. The boy opened his eyes and came to his sense. In the meantime, one of his friends had called his parents. His parents thanked me and praised me. They also thanked the doctor. They invited us for a dinner on the following Saturday.

Answer:

Every Sunday I take a bath in the canal which is a few kilometers away from my house. Before going to the canal, I have a walk in the garden which lies adjacent to the canal. Last Sunday, early in the morning I was having a walk in the garden. I heard a loud cry from outside the garden.

It had come from the canal side. It was the cry of an old woman who seemed to be in great distress. Without thinking for a moment, I rushed towards the canal. Indeed, I found an old woman standing there on the bank of the canal. She was again crying loudly. I went to her and asked her the reason for her being so miserable. She could not utter a word but pointed with her finger to the middle of the canal.

As I cast my glance there, to my horror, I found a child drowning in the canal. Without a moment’s hesitation, I jumped into the canal. Fortunately, I had learnt swimming and was quite good at that.
