Everyone have different meaning of love...
To me the love is the attraction, understanding and attachment between the two things it might be between humans, between animals, between humans and animals and it might be between nature and the humans.
Everyone have the feeling of love bcz we are born with this feeling but the thing is that it take some time in some people to get expressed.
Love can happen with anyone it is unconditional, it doesn't need anything if it is going to happen it just happens it doesn't think of anything.
Now, let me come to ur topic i.e.
"Childhood marks the end of everything you've once loved"
According to me this sentence is is not true bcz childhood is not so small it is very big..
For a parent there child is always a child even if he/she gets old. So, this means that childhood never ends.
If once we loved anyone does not mean the end bcz loving anyone is not bad and feeling of love never ends. Till death the feeling of love never ends.
But if we take it in a wrong sense that most of the adolescent Children take, is wrong they just think that it is a fun.
Love never ends it has no limit. We might even get hurt in love but we have to face it bcz if there is something good then there must be something bad also.
I have written a short paragraph bcz I don't have much knowledge.
