METALS:-
1) Oxides of metals are basic in nature.
2)Metals lose electrons and form positive ions, so they are reducing agents.
3)Metals react with chlorine and form electrovalent bonds.
4)Metals react with acids and release hydrogen gas.
NON METAL :-
1)Their oxides are acidic in nature.
2)Non-m etals form negative ions by gaining electrons, so they are oxidising agents.
3) Non-metals by reacting with chlorine form covalent chlorides.
4)Non metals do not react with dilute acids.
