Following are some steps to improve reading:

• Consistency is the key: It is not necessary that you read for long hours, what actually matters is that you do it every day. Over a period of time, you will realize that your reading will have improved significantly.
• Explore all types of literature: You don't have to read only related to your topic. Apart from that, you should explore a wide variety of topics which would lead to an increase in your knowledge and vocabulary.
• Keep a dictionary handy: While reading if you find a word that is unknown to you, please look for its meaning in the dictionary. This will increase your vocabulary and also make you familiar with different types of words.
• Go through the text before reading: Even if you do not go through the entire text before reading and just look through it roughly, you will develop a faint understanding of what you are about to read. This will make you more confident.
