Write numbers such that
(1) Their sum is 42 and difference is 16.
(2) Their sum is 37 and difference is 11.​

1)Let the be x and y

According to question

x + y = 42

x - y = 16

________

2x = 58

x = 29

putting the value of x in (x+y = 42)

x + y = 42

29 + y = 42

y = 42-29

y = 13

______________________________________

2) according to question

x + y = 37

x - y = 11

_________

2x. = 48

x = 24

putting the value of x in equation(x-y=11)

x - y = 11

24 - y = 11

24 - 11 = y

y = 13
