Television is really a form of boon to children because the children learn many activities and subjects by watching television. Today due to the advent of satellite technology many channels such as Discovery, Nat Geo, History provide interactive sessions to the children. They teach the children about the fascinating world of science, animals, geographical locations, places and some historical events of the past. The children can also observe the talents of different stars on television to develop their soft skills. They learn the art of dancing if they are interested in dance from the shows of famous stars, learn the skill of music and many other activities. Children can promote their talents if they observe the skills of others. Learning by observation is a very quicker means of learning. The children can also acquire a lot of general knowledge by watching the news channels or any other channel. They also learn the changing trends of life. Even TV serials do provide them knowledge about family life, or any other events relating to life. Children become more exposed to the world.
The grandparents usually consider that watching television is a curse because they think that the children are easily distracted from the studies. They think that they divert their attention from studies because they are tempted to watch some serials or shows that spoil their moral fabric. Many children are induced to violent acts after watching the violent scenes on the television. Some children watch the dressing style and the jeweleries loaded on the kids and turn stubborn. Many children rise their demand after watching the television because they come across the glamor of life and get over fascinated. They use the abusive language spoken by the vice people's roles. It is the simplest way of getting rapid news which may be transmitted during a moment. There are many news channels which provide news about current affairs, sports, and movies. There are channels like Discovery, Nat Geo and History T.V. Channels like Fashion T.V. inspire people and influence their lifestyle.
On the opposite hand, many of us call it an television receiver because it hampers our ability to think and argue. It is also blamed of reducing our creativity and some people say that it compromises reading and writing abilities also.Many health issues like headache, sleeplessness, eye sight problems and obesity are caused by excessive watching of T.V. It also affects behaviour of kids during a negative way making them aggressive and fewer tolerant.
To conclude, I would like to say that television is one of the best useful inventions of all time. It is up to us how we can extract the best out of it. Many of the ill effects are related to excessive T.V. watching. Negative behavioural changes can be stopped by selecting appropriate programmes and through the supervision of parents.
