Silt have larger particles....clay have smaller particles !!..Silt has larger particles than clay and are mainly inorganic in nature. The particle size is less than 0.075mm and exhibits slightly plastic or non plastic behaviour. Loam is a mixture of sand, silt and clay in different proportions. Humus is soil consisting of dead and decaying organic matter.

Starting with the finest, clay particles are smaller than 0.002 mm in diameter. Some clay particles are so small that ordinary microscopes do not show them. Silt particles are from 0.002 to 0.05 mm in diameter.
