Some penguin live in antarctic where it is extremely cold and the water temperature rises above freezing. Other live in southern hemisphere. They are excellent swimmers. Penguins have webbed feet for powerful swimming. Their body is streamlined to reduce drag in water. Their wings, shaped like flippers, also help them to fly underwater at speed up to 15 mph. Penguin have to keep high body temperature to remain active. They have thick skin and lots of fat (blubber) under their skin to keep warm in cold weather. They also huddle together with their friends to keep warm. Their heavy, solid bones act like a divers weight belt, allowing them to stay underwater.
