Release of CO2 from germinating seeds.

First take a conical flask.

Place 30 germinating bean seeds in a conical flask by using spatula.

Place a test tube containing 4ml of KOH solution.

Maintain inlet and outlet small thin tubes through rubber cork.

Tie a thread around the neck of a test tube.

Place the test tube above the germinating seeds in a conical flask.

Now close the mouth of a conical flask with a rubber cork.

after 2 hours you can observe the increased water level in outlet small and thin tube.

This is due to, germinating seeds in the conical flask release CO2 during respiration, which is absorbed by the KOH solution that kept in the small test tube.

Thus, it proves that germinating seeds produce carbon dioxide during respiration.
