The Edicts of Ashoka are a collection of more than thirty inscriptions on the pillars as well as boulders and cave walls, made by Emperor Ashoka of the Mauryan Empire during his reign, from 268 BCE to 232 BCE.

The inscriptions and edicts of Ashoka refers to collection of 33 inscriptions on the pillars of Ashoka as well as cave walls made by emperor Ashoka during his reign from 272 BCE to 231 BCE.
Dispersed throughout the area of modern day Pakistan, Nepal and India.
In these edicts Ashoka refers himself as "Beloved of Gods" and king priyadarshi
These edicts were decoded by British archeologist James prinsep.
Three languages were used- Prakrit,Greek,Aramaic in these edicts.
