Methane is CH4 when it is burnt in oxygen it gives off heat and usually makes carbon dioxide and water

The balanced equation is: CH4 + 2 O2 ---> CO2+ 2 H20

If there is not enough oxygen sometimes it can also produce carbon monoxide (CO) instead of carbon dioxide.
