scattering of light means that the light rays go in different directions
but dispersion of light means splitting of white light into its constituent colours.

The process of splitting of light into its 'component colours ' is dispersion of light.

When the light is dispersed into seven colours while passing through a prism different colours of light bend with different angles with respect to the incident ray this phenomenon is called scattering of light.

Hope it is useful to you.
