if atom loses electron

let atom is A

.. A --------> A^+ + e^-1

e is electron

if atom gain electron

A + e^-1----------> A^-

As when atom gain electron then no of electron are 1 more then no of proton so atom acquire negative charge of +1

when atom loses electron then no of proton are 1 more then no of electron so atom acquire positive charge of +1
