Young's modulus is the ratio of stress to strain.

as you know, stress is not other than pressure e.g., stress is force applied on material per unit area. and strain is the ratio of change in length to original length of material.

so, Young's modulus = stress/strain.

or, Y = FL/A∆L

where F is force applied on material, L is original length of material , A is cross section area of material and ∆L is change in length of material.

S.I unit of Young's modulus is N/m²

dimension of Young's modulus is ML-1T-2
