[1] It is responsible for primary (elongation) & secondary (thickness) growth of the plant.

[2] All new organs & their growth occur by the division of meristematic tissue.

[3] It's cells give rise to various organs of a plant & are responsible for growth.

[4] Primary meristematic tissue helps the plant increase in length or vertical growth.

[5] Secondary meristematic tissue helps the plant increase the girth or lateral growth of its stems, branches, & roots.
