Write the reaction for the preparation of plaster of Paris and give any two uses of it.​

On heating of gypsum at 373K( Kelvin) It loses water molecules and becomes calcium sulphate hemihydrate

CaSO4. \frac{1}{2}H2O

. this is what we call plaster of Paris. Its uses are:-

(1) it is used by doctor for supporting fractured bones in the right position.

(2) It is used for making toys and making surfaces smooth.
