Double Decomposition of CuCl and NaOH
If Cu is Cu(I).
Reaction will be ---
CuCl + NaOH -----> NaCl + CuOH (ppt)
This CuOH produced will gradually dehydrate and eventually turn into Cu2O. (Cuprous Oxide)
Colour of Cu2O is reddish colour
If Copper is Cu(I),
Reaction will be
CuCl2 + NaOH ----> Cu(OH)2 + NaCl .
Cu(OH)2 (ppt) will converted into CuO. ( Cupric oxide)
Colour of CuO is Black.
