Answer:

Count Camillo de Cavour : In 1848, he was elected a member of the Sardinia Piedmont as the Chief Minister. He was neither a revolutionary nor a Democrat. He was convinced that economic progress and powerful army were two vital forces for the unification of Italy. In 1852, he became the Prime Minister of Sardinia Piedmont and a new chapter opened in the history of Italy. He proved himself to be an extraordinary diplomat and marvellous politician of his time. Like Mazzini and Garibaldi, Cavour also was a true patriot and had determined to see Italy independent and unified. He formed a diplomatic alliance with France and defeated the Austrian forces occupying the Northern Italy (Lombardy and Venetia) in 1859. By this the Northern Italy (Lombardy and Venetia) was gained back to make a united Italy.
