The condition of women in

France before the revolution

1. In society women were

considered inferior to men. Except the women who belonged to the wealthier

classes, most women had no access to education and job training.

2. The women of the Third

Estate looked after their family and also did small jobs like working as a

seamstress, laundress, flower sellers or as domestic workers to earn a living.

3. Women were given lower

wages compared to men.

4. They did not have any

political rights.
