The poem The Secret of the Machines by Rudyard Kipling addresses the issue of modern machines and technology. In the beginning, the reader learns how machines are produced and what kind of treatment they need. The machines then demonstrate how they can help mankind. Machines are not only useful, however, they can also lead to major catastrophes if they are used correctly. The poem ends with the argument that machines are yet nothing other than human brain creations, though capable of doing great deeds.
