The following were the three main difficulties faced by early humans while gathering food:

Relying on Nature for food:

Early humans relied a lot on nature for their food. They were basically hunters and gatherers which meant  they were mostly engaged in hunting and gathering food rather than growing them.

Travelling for long in search of food:

As they were mostly involved in hunting they had to travel a lot in search of food. They traveled a lot in search of best of hunting grounds.

No permanent place for settlement:

Since they depended on hunting for food they did not have a permanent place for settlement.They even had to live beside sea,lakes and rivers in search of food like fish,crabs etc, thus making their life difficult.
