Given :  (2 + √3) (2 - √3)

By using the identity : (a + b)(a – b) = a² - b² :

(2 + √3) (2 – √3)

= (2)² – (√3)²

= 4 – 3

= 1

Hence the value of (2 + √3) (2 - √3) is 1.

Some more examples :

(5 + √5) (5 - √5)

By using the identity : (a + b)(a – b) = a² - b² :

(5 + √5) (5 – √5)

= (5)² – (√5)²

= 25 – 5

= 20

(3 + 2√2) (3 - 2√2)

By using the identity : (a + b)(a – b) = a² - b² :

(3 + 2√2) (3 – 2√2)

= (3)² – (2√2)²

= 9 – 8

= 1
