CHARACTERISTICS OF KINGDOM PLANTAE

1) PLANTAE includes multicellular organisms except for some primitive algae
2) They're eukaryotes ie their cell wall has a nucleus and membrane bound cellular organelles
3) Reserve food of plant is starch and lipids ie oil or fats
4) body form of plant is irregular due to presence of branches
5) growth is generally indefinite due to presence of growing points

Subgroup don't have well defined body design ie THALLOPHTA , (DIVISION I)

General Characteristics of Kingdom Plantae are:-

1-This kingdom includes algae, bryophytes, pleridophytes, gymnosperms and flowering plants (angiosperms). They are common on land, on sea shore, and in fresh water. They live in wide range of habitats.

2-The kingdom includes autotrophic (some are heterotrophic), eukaryotic and multicellular organisms.

3-Plants usually contain chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and carotenoids.

4-Cells have a large central vacuole and rigid cell walls composed of cellulose.

5-The reserve food material is starch and fat.
