An infinitive is a verb that has not been conjugated. It's more noticeable in other languages (Spanish and French, at least).
Infinitive: to run
After conjugating it: runs, run
Example: I run. You run. He runs. She runs. We run. They run.
Infinitive: to eat
After conjugating it: eats, eat
Example: I eat. You eat. He eats. She
