Answer:

The value of x is 7 and the value of y is 13 .

Step-by-step explanation:

As the equation given in the question be as follow .

\frac{x+1}{2}+\frac{y-1}{3} = 8

Simplify the above

3(x+1)+2(y-1)= 6 × 8

3x + 3 + 2y - 2 = 48

3x + 2y = 48 - 1

3x + 2y = 47

Second equation

\frac{x-1}{3}+\frac{y+1}{2}=9

2(x-1)+3(y+1)=6 × 9

2x - 2 + 3y +3 = 54

2x + 3y = 54- 1

2x + 3y = 53

Two equations becomes

3x + 2y = 47

2x + 3y = 53

Multiply 3x + 2y = 47 by 2 and multiply 2x + 3y = 53 by 3 .

6x  + 4y = 94

6x + 9y = 159

Subtracted 6x  + 4y = 94  from 6x + 9y = 159 .

6x - 6x + 9y - 4y = 159 - 94

5y = 65

y = \frac{65}{5}

y = 13

Put this value of y in 3x + 2y = 47 .

3x + 13 × 2 = 47

3x + 26 = 47

3x = 47 - 26

3x = 21

x = \frac{21}{3}

x = 7

Therefore the value of x is 7 and the value of y is 13 .
