We have

 \frac{x - 2}{ {x}^{2}  + x - 6}  \\

Using middle term splitting

 \frac{x - 2}{ {x}^{2}  + 3x - 2x - 6}  \\  \\  =  \frac{x - 2}{(x + 3) - 2(x + 3)}  \\\\ \:{cancel\: the\: common\: factors} \\ \\  =  \frac{( \cancel{x - 2})}{(x + 3)( \cancel{x - 2})}  \\  \\  =  \frac{1}{x + 3}

Hence the simplified form is \frac{1}{x + 3}
