x/2+y=8
x/2=8-y
x=16-2y---1
7/(x+y/2)=10
(x+y/2)/7=1/10
x+y/2=7/10
x=7/10-y/2---2
from 1&2
16-2y=7/10-y/2
-2y+y/2=7/10-16
-3y/2=12/10
-3y=12/5
y=-4/5
put value of y in equation 1
x=16-2(-4/5)
x=16+8/5
x=17.6
