Answer :

x ∝ $\dfrac{1}{y}$

xy = k (Where k is constant)

By putting the values of x and y,

x = 9 and y = 4

=> 9 * 4 = k

=> 36 = k

∴ The value of k is 36

When x = 18 and y = ?

xy = k

By putting the values of x and k,

=> 18 * y = 32

=> y = $\dfrac{36}{18}$

=> y = 2

Verification for both the cases :-

(i) When x = 9 and y = 4

xy = k

=> 9 * 4 = 36

=> 36 = 36

∴ LHS = RHS $\checkmark$$\checkmark$

(ii) When x = 18 and y = 2

xy = k

=> 18 * 2 = 36

=> 36 = 36

∴ LHS = RHS $\checkmark$$\checkmark$
