‘X’ is an indicator added to a dilute NaOH solution. The colour of the solution turns pink.
When a substance ‘Y’ is added to this solution, the solution becomes colourless.’Y’ also
combines with sodium hydroxide to form salt that we use in food in everyday life.
(i) Identify X and Y
(ii) Give the reaction of Y with sodium hydroxide
(iii) Name the type of reaction happened.
