diffrentiate with respect to dx to get max. value of y.

dy/dx = c-2x.

differentiate w.r.t X
y=x(c-x) ......(i)
dy/dx= c-2x

for maximum value dy/dx=0

therefore c-2x= 0
c= 2x
put the value of c in equation (i)

y = x(2x-x)
y = x²
hence the maximum value of y = x²
