You divide the total distance traveled on a car trip (as determined by the odometer) by the time for the trip, are you calculating the average speed or the magnitude of the average velocity? Under what circumstances are these two quantities the same?

On dividing total distance travelled by total time taken fir the journey we will acctually determine the average speed.

Average speed = total distance/ tile take'

For calculating te average velocity can be calculated by dividing i'iyial velocity + final velocity divided by 2 .

=>( U + V) /2

Speed is the how fast a body is moving but don't have specified direction, velocity is same as speed but it has specific direction.

Speed is the magnitude of velocity

The relation :-

The relation is that both are the measure that how fast a body is moving .

Answer:

we measure average speed by odometer reading we can't measure average velocity by it because it can't detect direction of car these quantities are equal when direction is same
