In a lemon race ,a bucket is placed at a starting point, which is
6m away from the first lemon and other lemons are placed 4 m
apart from each other in a straight line. There are 10 lemons in
a line. Riya starts from the bucket, picks up the nearest lemon,
runs back with it, drops it in the bucket runs back to pic the
next lemon, runs to the bucket to drop it in and continues until all
the lemons are in the bucket.
Now answer the following questions given below:
9. The lemons are placed in a straight line depicts which part of
sequence ?
a)Geometric b) Arithmetic c) Linear d) Harmonic
10. The total distance covered by Riya is -
a)370 m b)480 m c)460 m d)400m
11. The formula to find 'n' term of the Arithmetic sequence
(Progression) is
a) an = a + (n-1)d
b) a = a - (n-1)d
c) an = a - (n+1)d
d) an = a + (n-1)
12. The difference between the terms of arithmetic sequence is called
as
a) Common ratio
b) Common Difference
c) Common term
d) None of these
13. Find the distance travelled by Riya if she picks the 5th lemon and
puts in the bucket
a)140 b)141
c)142
d)143

Answer:

9.b)Arithmetic

10.b) 480m

11.a)a_{n} = a + (n-1)d

12.b) Common Difference

13.a)140

Step-by-step explanation:

9.)The lemon are placed at equal distances of 4m so,the given sequence is arithmetic because the distance between two lemons is always same.

10.Total distance covered by Riya=2(6+10+14+18+22+26+30+34+38+42)

                                                         =2(240)

                                                         =480m

11.We know the expression to find the nth term of A.P. is a_{n}=a+(n-1)d

12.The difference between two terms of an A.P. is known as common difference.

13. Distance after puttting 5th lemon in the basket=2(6+10+14+18+22)

                                                                                       =2(70)

                                                                                      =140
