It is because aluminium metal is usually coated with a very inert protective layer of Al2O3. It reacts very slowly with dilute hydrochloric acid. Hope it helps Thanks...

As aluminium forms a protective coating of aluminum oxide which slows or more appropreatley stop the reaction hence zinc is more preffered. Hope it helps!!
