Answer:

The number of boys and girls in the class is 32 & 18 respectively.

Step-by-step-explanation:

Let the number of boys in the class be x.

From the first condition,

Sum of number of boys and girls is 50.

⇒ x + No. of girls = 50

No. of girls = ( 50 - x ) - - - ( 1 )

Now, from the second condition,

Number of girls in the class is two more than half of the number of boys.

∴ ( 50 - x ) = ( x / 2 ) + 2 - - - [ From ( 1 ) ]

⇒ 2 * ( 50 - x ) = 2 * ( x / 2 ) + 2 * 2 - - - [ Multiplying each term by 2 ]

⇒ 100 - 2x = x ÷ 2 * 2 + 4

⇒ 100 - 2x = x + 4

⇒ 100 - 4 = x + 2x

⇒ 96 = 3x

⇒ x = 96 ÷ 3

x = 32

Now,

No. of girls = ( 50 - x )

⇒ No. of girls = 50 - 32

No. of girls = 18

∴ The number of boys and girls in the class is 32 & 18 respectively.
