Water of crystallisation are water molecules which are loosely attached to the molecule of a salt compound.
Activity
Take some blue copper sulphate crystals in a test tube and heat it
After some time you'll find that blue copper sulphate crystals change to white powder and some water on the cooler sides of the test tube.
On heating, the water of crystallisation attached to their molecules evaporated and changed to steam. This changed the colour of crystals.
This clearly shows that blue copper sulphate crystals were hydrated.
Thanks.
